Italian Faceted Sommerso Murano by Alessandro Mandruzzato- Red and Yellow Vessel
Italian Faceted Sommerso Murano by Alessandro Mandruzzato- Red and Yellow Vessel
A small diamond shaped red and yellow Murano glass 'Sommerso' vase by the glassmaking maestro Luigi Mandruzzato. Handcrafted in the 1970s in Italy, utilizing the revered 'Sommerso' technique—a bold method synonymous with the skill and artistry of Mandruzzato.
Sommerso literally translates to 'submerged,' which is what makes this vase so unique and eye-catching: a layer of cranberry red glass sits above a layer of luminous yellow glass, wholly submerged within the clear glass body of the vase.
The vibrant colors and organic shape of the submerged glass wonderfully juxtapose the tube-like form and thick glass base of the vase. The vase is in good condition for its age and use.
